My experience at the state and local level have helped prepare me for the SCFA Presidency. I have served on the CCA Board and budget committee. There I learned two valuable lessons: your dues are not SCFA’s money, rather they must be used to provide direct representation to dues payers. Additionally, I've learned how every issue that faces us eventually leads back to the compensation and working conditions of part time faculty. How can full time faculty demand greater respect and better compensation if they are complacent about the lack of parity and treatment for part time faculty? Locally, I've served on Dispute Resolutions and on Negotiations. I know the contract and both full and part time faculty it represents. In this age of fires and pandemics, it is difficult to say, "I’m prepared," but I have prepared. It would be my honor to serve as your SCFA President. |
