CURRENT LEGISLATIVE ISSUES

COMMUNITY COLLEGE INITIATIVE:  PROPOSITION 92

The Community College Governance, Funding Stabilization, and Student Fee Reduction Act (AKA: THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE INITIATIVE) has qualified for the February, 2008 ballot!!

~ Click HERE for link to official Prop. 92 website ~

The California Community College Initiative requires minimum levels of state funding for community colleges, allowing community college funding to increase with the growing student population without raising taxes.

The Initiative provides stable, affordable and predictable student fees by setting fees at $15 per unit and limiting future fee increases to no more than the cost of living. It also takes politics out of the community colleges by establishing in the state constitution a system of independent public community college districts and Board of Governors.

If passed by the voters, what will it mean for Sierra College?
